A 4-year-old girl died in a swimming pool accident in Lawrenceville despite efforts to resuscitate her

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA (AP) -- Firefighters day a 4-year-old girl died in a swimming pool accident in Lawrenceville despite efforts to resuscitate her.

Gwinnett Fire Department spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge says firefighters went to a Lawrenceville apartment complex Sunday evening and found the 4-year-old poolside with bystanders trying to revive her.

Rutledge says firefighters also tried to revive her while rushing her to the Gwinnett Medical Center, but she was pronounced dead soon after arrival.

He says the girl had been in the pool with her father and a sibling and several others, when someone noticed she wasn't movingand pulled her from the water.

The victim's name was not immediately released.
