Governor Perdue appoints a state school board member to the position
ALBANY, GA. -- Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Brad Bryant to take over the state superintendent position on July 1, 2010.
Current State Superintendent Kathy Cox is leaving the position to take a national education job.
Bryant has served on the State School Board since 2003.
He’s not guaranteed the position in the fall because it’s too late to qualify as a republican.
Bryant says he’ll try to collect the 44,000 needed signatures by mid-July in order qualify for November’s elections as an independent.
