(AP) -- ATLANTA (AP) - The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office says a 12-year-old boy who was reported to have suffered a heat stroke did not die of natural causes.

Mike Alsip, an investigator at the medical examiner's office, says the boy, who died Thursday, definitely died as a result of violence.

Emergency workers went to an apartment complex in south Fulton County Thursday afternoon after a 911 caller reported a child had suffered a heat stroke. The boy was transported to South Fulton Medical Center, where he died.

Fulton County police say they're awaiting a report from the medical examiner on the cause of death.
