Bond rating approval Thursday

The Lee County Commission held a meeting tonight.

There are around 350 Smithville kids who don’t have a summer program to attend, so the city of Smithville wants Lee County’s help to build a summer camp.  Their main goal is kids will be busy playing and learning and not getting into trouble.

Lee County Commission Chairman Ed Duffy wants to look into this project immediately.

“When you get them involved in extracurricular activities, soccer, kickball, it keeps their minds occupied and it keeps them out of trouble,” said Duffy.

Meanwhile this Thursday the board will approve a bond rating.  Lee County has a “Double-A Minus” bond rating which could save up to $1.5 million when they restructure the utility authority debt.
