Albany Police Chief John Proctor has recommended a 30-day suspension without pay for Captain Earnest Williams.

The recommendation is in reference to improper disposal of sensitive department documents.   In mid March, in an alley near Williams’ house on West Residence Avenue, a neighbor said he found bags of trash with confidential police documents, disciplinary forms, and invoices with social security numbers on them in the bags.

According to Assistant City Manager Wes Smith, Williams admitted to the transgression.

An appeal hearing was held today with City Manager Alfred Lott. Lott has ten days to make a decision.  Stay tuned to FOX 31 News as we hope to bring you more on this case.
