(AP) -- AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - An Augusta man is charged with intoxicating his 9-year-old daughter, who said he threatened to kill her if she didn't drink.

Richmond County Capt. Scott Peebles says authorities discovered the girl Wednesday with a blood-alcohol content of 0.165. Her father, 39-year-old Jeffery Deon Hickson, registered a 0.23.

Peebles says the child's mother told deputies she got a call around 11 p.m. from her daughter, who was crying and wanted to be picked up from her father. When Harris and police arrived, authorities say they discovered the child intoxicated.

The child was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital. When called late Thursday evening, a phone number listed for Hickson was busy.
