(AP) -- ATLANTA (AP) - A teenager charged in an accident that killed a 2-year-old in northwest Atlanta is expected to go before a judge.

Police say 19-year-old Kelly Canty is charged with vehicular homicide and other charges. They say she was driving a car that swerved into the path of a tractor trailer on Tuesday, causing it to careen into a parking lot where it struck several cars.

Officer say 2-year-old Zion Curney was in a car with an older cousin when it was hit by the rig. He died later at a hospital.

Canty is being held at the Fulton County Jail, and is expected to appear before a judge on Thursday. Fulton County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan says Canty will get a chance to ask for a court-appointed lawyer at her court appearance.
