The district is applying for federal School Improvement Grants for Albany and Dougherty high schools
The Dougherty County School Board is looking at how to handle a federal grant that would replace principals at two Dougherty County high schools.
The district is applying for federal School Improvement Grants for Albany and Dougherty high schools. If the grant is awarded, the district would fire both principals immediately, and after a year fire teachers who did not perform up to required standards. The minimum award is $50,000 and the maximum is $2 million.
The instructional committee will meet Thursday to discuss whether or not to move forward. The application is due Tuesday.
