To offset budget cuts, Dougherty County EMS is partnering with other local EMS departments in the region to raise money for EMSC – their children’s department
National EMS week starts Sunday, and our local EMS department has some big plans.
EMS week recognizes paramedics for their hard work and dedication to emergency response. However, this year’s EMS week is a little different. To offset budget cuts, Dougherty County EMS is partnering with other local EMS departments in the region to raise money for EMSC – their children’s department.
Crews in Thomasville, Moultrie, Valdosta, Tifton, Cordele, and Albany are getting together to ride their motorcycles for the first-ever Poker and Dice Run on Saturday, May 22. They’ll all ride their motorcycles to Sylvester and then travel to Albany’s Harley Davidson store for the rest of the event.
“We’ll have the poker draw, dice roll, going to have a Best in Bike show,” said Dougherty County EMS Shift Supervisor Steve Ebel. “We’re just encouraging everybody to participate because all the monies that’s generated goes strictly into EMSC.”
The money will buy paramedic emergency equipment for children. The event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. Call Ebel at (229) 317-3885 for more information.
