Gun owners may be able to carry weapons into parts of airport

(AP) -- A New Jersey senator is responding to a Georgia law that would allow gun owners to carry their firearms in parts of airports by introducing legislation that calls for new
restrictions.

U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., on Thursday introduced the Firearm-Free Airports Act that would make it illegal to carry a gun into non-federally regulated areas of an airport.  Georgia lawmakers voted in April to allow gun owners to carry their weapons into parts of airports throughout the state not controlled by the federal government, such as terminals and parking lots.

Gov. Sonny Perdue has yet to sign the legislation, which has been pushed by gun rights advocates.
