State Judge John Salter spoke to the Dougherty County Finance Committee about instituting furloughs this next fiscal year
Dougherty County has been struggling trying to make ends meet before the upcoming fiscal year.
One local judge says furloughs for his department are not the answer. County Administrator Richard Crowdis will recommend that each County employee take 12 unpaid vacation days, but State Judge John Salter says his staff of three work harder than others in similar positions and are grossly underpaid.
“We've got emergency medical to be sure we don't interrupt service there, police to be sure we don't interrupt services there. Most of the days we were looking at, the offices would be closed anyway,” Said County commissioner Lamar Hudgins
County Commissioner Lamar Hudgins says this is an issue the Commission will have to take into consideration.
