Deerfield Windsor sixth graders recently finished reading “King Arthur” and held a medieval festival to celebrate the time period

Seventy students made shields, danced, did some fighting in mock battles, and enjoyed a medieval feast.

Deerfield Windsor language arts teacher Peggy Winsaul says the event is a great way to help students learn.  “One thing we’re working towards is critical thinking skills.  The students have to be very creative to come up with their own symbols for their shields, swords, and costumes” says Winsaul.

The group also enjoyed a medieval re-enactment by Ravenwood, a performing group from Americus.
