Dougherty County elementary schools participated in their 11th annual Science Olympiad today at Chehaw.

Third, fourth, and fifth grade students from each of the sixteen elementary schools will represent their schools at this competition.  Each school team will consist of 18 students; six from each grade level.  Students are chosen based on their proficiency of the science content, knowledge of the process of scientific  inquiry, and proper use of safety procedures, materials, and equipment during class experiments throughout the school year.  The students practice the events at their schools to prepare for the competition with the other schools at the Science Olympiad. Cooperation, team spirit, good sportsmanship, creativity, and persistence are emphasized and encouraged throughout the process.
