Charles Grant and three other men stand trial for the death of 23-year-old Korynda Reed and her unborn child

Blakely, Georgia has an NFL star in town, but only because he’s on trial for allegedly being involved in the death of Korynda Reed.

Reed’s family exclusively told FOX 31 News that they are still grieving and they welcome the opportunity to see justice served.  “It’s been tough, Korynda passed away on February 3, 2008 and we want swift results with this case.  This situation has brought a lot of grief to our family” says Virgil Wimbush, uncle of Korynda.

Reed and her unborn child died from a gunshot wound to the head after an altercation outside of a Blakely nightclub where Charles Grant and his friends were hanging out.

Jarvis Tenson who was not with Grant’s group has plead guilty to affray and involuntary manslaughter and will pay a $1,000 fine and get one year of probation.  Charles Grant and Marshae Stromer are still on trial for involuntary manslaughter, and Laquient Macklin is on trial for felony murder and feticide.  Grant’s attorneys say they are confident Grant will be proven innocent. “Since the trial is going on and we’re on restricted instructions from the court, all I can say today is that Charles Grant maintains his innocence of any charges that may have been brought against him” says Edward Tolley, one of Grant’s attorneys.

Judge Ronnie Lang told FOX 31 News the case will go into next week and has the potential to run longer because there are more than 60 people that could possibly take the stand as witnesses.
