Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator Amanda Barber says the group of about 10 will go to the Pensacola area to help rescue thousands of animals covered in oil
A group of southwest Georgians are prepping for a trip to save animals affected by the oil spill in the Gulf Coast.
Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator Amanda Barber says the group of about 10 will go to the Pensacola area to help rescue thousands of animals covered in oil. An oil rig is leaking tens of thousands of gallons in oil into the water. The group is asking for help. They need blue Dawn dish soap, water, towels, cat carriers, and more. You can donate at the Flint RiverQuarium, the Thronateeska Heritage Center, or the Harvey’s on Dawson Road.
“Even if we go out and rescue a bunch of animals. It doesn’t mean they’re all going to survive. It’s heartbreaking. We’re going to see a lot of tough things,” Barber said.
The group is also planning on creating a Georgia Wildlife Rescue Association. For more search “Georgia Wildlife Rescue Association on Facebook at www.facebook.com.
