Building relationships important
The new initiative to squash poverty in Albany took another step tonight.
Organizers from Strive to Thrive held a “Community Together Dinner.” Community leaders and the first group of circle leaders ate dinner and talked about what barriers they have to overcome to make this a success.
Strive to Thrive’s Harriet Hollis says there will be busy months ahead.
“The first step after tonight is we have classes, getting ahead classes for the circle leaders that actually start on May 13th at Trumpet of God Ministries. We also have support classes for allies, those are the community people who are going to come in and provide that support and guidance for these family leaders,” said Hollis.
Organizers also wanted the community and circle leaders to begin developing relationships.
