County commissioner John Hayes announced Wednesday he will be running for re-election.

Hayes is commissioner of district two which covers the Radium Springs area and parts of Putney. He has served since 2005. He sponsored the Youth Commission, which helps youth prepare for future leadership roles. During the recent flooding incident last march, Hayes played an active role in calling in for help and getting relief to devastated areas. Hayes also holds quarterly listening meetings to help the community stay informed of the Commission's actions.

Hayes has one opponent so far, that is Lonnie Smith of Putney who is running as a republican.
