The race for Dougherty County school board District 2 is getting crowded. Three democrats and a republican have qualified to run for the seat.

Incumbent Democrat Milton “Junebug” Griffin is seeking reelection. Lynda Weaver and Sherrell Byrd qualified Wednesday. The three will face off in a primary July 20.

Political newcomer Donnie Smith is the only republican to qualify for that seat so far.

Districts 2, 4, and 6 on the school board and Dougherty County Commission are up for reelection this year as well as commission chair.
