Look out for snakes
With temperatures climbing into the 80’s, winter is in the rear view mirror which means some potentially dangerous critters are coming out of hibernation, including venomous snakes. Their arrival could possibly make something as simple as an Easter egg hunt turn deadly.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources recommends you put the eggs in a clean area where kids can easily spot them.
There are four species of venomous snakes in Georgia; including 3 types of rattlesnakes, coral snake, copperhead, and the water moccasin. If one of these snakes bites you, seek medical attention immediately.
“What you want to prevent is, you really want to make sure that area gets treated because if the swelling gets worse what sometimes can happen is called “compartment syndrome,” in which you compress the nerves and the vessels in that area can cause permanent damage,” said Dr. Mana Kasongo.
