Dougherty County has begun its budget process and numbers are not looking good
Albany may be doing well financially, but Dougherty County has a different story to tell.
County Administrator Richard Crowdis says the County is looking at cutting 5% from all operating costs. He says they're also considering furloughs, and, down the line, even layoffs.
“The County situation is that we're spending in the general fund $2 million more in expenses than revenues and we're using our reserves to balance the budget and you can only do that so long,” Says Crowdis.
Dougherty County currently has about $11 million in reserves.
