Organizers say bids on bachelors and silent auctions items raised twice their goal

The recent Bid for Bachelors event raised $20,000 for the Albany Autism Center.

Organizers say bids on bachelors and silent auctions items raised twice their goal. The event was held Friday night at the State Theater in downtown Albany. People in attendance bid on 23 bachelor’s, including FOX 31’s Jeff Abeln. Center Director Diane Blocker says the money will go towards a school for autistic children.

“We have found a property. We’ve met with the zoning and planning. We’ve met with the city commission, and all we needed was the money, and it took us one fundraiser,” Blocker said.

Blocker says the school will be called Bridgewood Academy.
