Reed Timmer speaks at Darton College

Reed Timmer is known as one of the most successful and extreme storm chasers in the world, having intercepted more than 250 tornadoes and a dozen hurricanes during the last decade. Timmer spoke to Darton College students about his experiences today.

A star on Discovery Channel’s “Storm Chasers” in 2008, Timmer became the first person in history to capture high definition video inside a tornado.

Besides grabbing the students’ attention with some of his videos, he stressed the importance of tornado awareness.

“If we better understand tornadoes, we can better increase tornado warning lead times which helps save lives,” said Timmer.

Timmer says he’s been obsessed with weather since he was 5-years old.
