The Aviation Commission reduced the hours employees in the air traffic control tower will work

Currently the air traffic control center at the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport is staffed from 6:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

In a few months those hours will change to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.

Airport director Yvette Aehle says the new hours will let the airport utilize their people in a more efficient manner.  She adds that they will make schedule alterations for certain occasions.

The new hours will go into effect within the next six months.
