A local bishop is working on a way to stop violence that happens in southwest Georgia every day.
Bishop Frederick Williams Sr. of Gethsemane Worship Center, began a movement called Stop The Violence where, every Tuesday, citizens, police officers, attorneys and local leaders meet to discuss how they can stop violent acts in the community. Williams says the idea came after his sister was brutally murdered in December.
“Young man, 24 years old is accused of her murder, we don't know motive, he was a friend of her son. But we're seeing violence in young people so much these days so what we want to do is try to reach them with a non violent approach and teach them a non violent approach,” said Williams.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Gethsemane Worship located at 529 10th Avenue.
