The Moultrie Haz-Mat team responded to a call near Peterson Oil Company.

Around 9:30 a.m. a person smelled gas in the area of North Main Street and called the Moultrie Fire Department.  When they arrived they too smelled gas and alerted the Moultrie Haz-Mat team to investigate.  The team monitored the sewer and found a leak in an old sewer line.

Moultrie Fire Chief Kenneth Hannon says the leak was never near explosive level and says the Moultrie Utility Department will put a patch over the line to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
