Tax day is drawing near and many Georgians are filing their returns online.

Last year, the IRS reported three million online filings out of four million.  During the last 30 days 1.4 million Georgians have filed electronically.  If you make less than $57,000 you can file your return for free at IRS.gov.

IRS spokesperson Mark Green says filing online has its advantages.

"Normally in the past, it's 48 hours where we'll contact you and say hey you made an error; this year, five minutes.  You the tax payer can get your refund in as little as seven to ten business days versus six to eight weeks," said Green.
