Dougherty County Schools crowns a new spelling bee champion.

Lincoln Elementary Magnet School 5th grader Talia Sisroe spelled her way to the top Thursday morning at the Isabella Office Complex.  The winning word? Macadamia. Sisroe competed against elementary and middle school students from Dougherty County schools. Sisroe will move on to the regional spelling bee later this month in Moultrie. She says the key to winning is taking your time.

“You gotta ask a lot of questions so you have time to think,” Sisroe said.

If she keeps winning, Sisroe could go all the way to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
