Water has receded on parts of Creekside Drive in Lee County, but water is still surrounding many Lee County homes
Lee County is still battling flooded and washed out roads, and there’s more rain to come.
Water has receded on parts of Creekside Drive in Lee County, but it’s not gone yet. Water is still surrounding many Lee County homes.
Interim Lee County Public Works Director Mike Sistrunk says Mays Road between Usry and Piney Grove has reopened, but roads still closed are: New York Road between Milledge Road and Philema Road, Laramore Road between Airport Road and Batts Road, Mays Road between Scott Road and Highway 195, Gray Moss Road from New York Road to New York Road, 400 to 600 block of Creekside Drive, Cypress Point and Gator Pond Road from Usry Road to Highway 377.
Roads that are almost impassable are: Batts Road from Highway 195 to Gray Moss Road, Dan Green Road from New York Road to Gray Moss Road, East and West Kaylor Road, Cromer Road, and Wilmar Road.
More rain is expected Thursday and Friday so public works has put out sand bags for you to take to keep the water away from your house.
“That’s open to the public, that’s free to the public to have,” Sistrunk said. “We just ask that you share them with everybody else there to make sure everybody’s got a fair shot at getting some.”
You can pick up those sand bags at any time of day outside the public works office on Highway 32.
