The Commission was fined $66,000 two years ago, appealed it, but lost and may have to pay

The Dougherty County Commission may have to pay a $66,000 fine to the Georgia Department of Revenue.

Two years ago, the County paid for property re-valuations. However, the Department of Revenue thought the County's process took longer than desired and fined them for it. Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard says there was nothing they could do and are trying to fight it. The County has appealed the fine and had a hearing, but lost.

Legal council advises that they pay the fine.
