Faulty gas pedals the cause
Last week, Toyota recalled eight of its vehicles involving 2.3 million cars, but now there are new details involving the car company. Faulty gas pedals led to Toyota suspending sales of eight of its most popular models. Toyota Motor Corporation said the gas pedals could stick and cause acceleration without warning.
Here’s a list of the suspended models:
2009-2010 RAV4
2009-2010 Corolla
2007-2010 Camry
2009-2010 Matrix
2005-2010 Avalon
2010 Highlander
2007-2010 Tundra
2008-2010 Sequoia
It’s important to note not every one of these cars has a something wrong with its accelerator pedal. Toyota reported late this afternoon out of 22 million Toyota’s on the road which fall under these specific categories, 50 complaints are being investigated.
Alan Murphy owns Toyota of Albany. He says if your car falls under one of these categories bring it to a Toyota dealership immediately.
“We have to physically look at it to let them know and it takes nothing. What we got to do is look under the dash at the gas pedal itself, and we’ll be able to tell right away if it’s an infected unit or not. That doesn’t mean the part itself is defective, it just means it’ll be part of the recall,” said Murphy.
