Students, faculty, and staff from six schools donate money to the Red Cross

Six Dougherty County schools came together today to donate money to the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund

Students from Monroe High School, Westover High School, Live Oak Elementary School , and the three International Schools presented a total of $4,773 to the Red Cross today.


Students and teachers have been collecting money since the earthquake hit Haiti.

Principals say many students gave up their allowance money, spending money, and money from part time jobs to donate to the Red Cross.

Students are still donating money and principals say they will continue to donate all money to the Red Cross.

Below is the breakdown of the donated money:

Westover High School - $519

Monroe High School - $870

Live Oak Elementary School - $1,157

Dougherty Comprehensive High School, Dougherty International Education Middle School, and International Studies Elementary Charter School - $2,227
