(AP) -- Jangxi University of Science and Technology and the College of Coastal Georgia are exploring the possibility of establishing a Confucius Institute at the Brunswick
college.

Students would use the institute as a resource to study Chinese history, art and culture and learn the language.  Yang Qun, who directs international exchange and cooperation for the university in southern China, is visiting Brusnwick this week.  He met with Coastal Georgia President Valerie Hepburn and the college faculty to discuss creating the institute.

The Florida Times-Union reports that Hepburn says one question is whether there are enough students in the region interested in Chinese language and cultural programs to make it worthwhile, and enough with a willingness to travel to Jiangxi to study there.
