(AP) -- Gov. Sonny Perdue is proposing legislation that would allow Georgians to buy healthcare plans that have been approved for sale in other states.

Perdue announced the measure Tuesday at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce's annual Eggs and Issues Breakfast. He also criticized the healthcare plan being considered by Congress as "unmanageable" and "troubling."

He says Georgia's lawmakers must act quickly to provide an alternative to Congress' plan.  The U.S. House and the Senate are ironing out differences in their competing health reform bills.
