Albany firefighters search the freezing waters again in hopes of finding an elderly Lee County woman missing since Christmas Eve.

This is the first time firefighters have searched Lake Chehaw since 77-year-old Fannie Corley’s memorial service on January 3rd. Firefighters rode the waters doing a visual search for about 5 hours Monday. The water temperatures are in the upper 30s, lower 40s and the current is strong. These are the same problems rescue teams faced after Corley’s abandoned car was found on the Old Leesburg Road Bridge on Christmas Eve. The fire department will continue to search the water every few days.

“We’ve got a job to do and we are going to try to do it to the best of our ability,” said Battalion Chief Marty Leverett.

Call 911 or the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 229-759-6012 if you see anything suspicious near the water.
