Prosecutors say "Buie's motives for stealing taxpayer money as ADICA CEO are sex, money, and coverup."

The first day of testimony in the Don Buie trial wraped up with some high-profile witnesses.

The prosecution began calling witnesses to try and prove Buie stole taxpayer money. Assistant City Managers Wes Smith and James Taylor, City Managr Al Lott, and ADICA book keeper Shonnie King all took the stand. Prosecutor Chris Cohilas asked them about Buie's checks wrtten to Shannon Lee.

Prosecutors also called an Albany resident to testify that Buie falsified a P.O. box address. However the real drama unfolded when Buie's ex-girlfriend Nicole Brown took the stand. Brown claims she gave Buie a kickback so he could use the money for personal use. She has pleaded guilty for charges relating to that money.

Brown also alleged threats from Buie's current girlfriend when Brown signed the affidavit that launched Buie's GBI investigation. Brown said the threats that she received via text message said they would expose a private video of Brown and Buie.

Testimony continues Thursday. Follow FOX 31 News on Facebook and Twitter for instant updates throughout the trial.
