City employees did not receive a Cost Of Living Adjustment this year
City employees were not given a Cost Of Living Adjustment (COLA) this year
The City tentatively voted to give City employees an incentive this month.
Just like everyone, City employees have had to cut back and when the budget came out with a surplus instead of a deficit, City officials proposed to reward their employees. Commissioner Bob Langstaff, though, says he'll need to consider things like the City’s and WG&L’s cost of living adjustments.
“We did not give a cost of living adjustment this year to city employees and in the government sector, that's the norm is to do a cola, you can't always afford to give one but since that was not done it's time to look and see what you can do and the bonus is one way to do it,” Said Langstaff.
They will vote officially next week.
