100 turkeys given out

The 100 Black Men of Albany put a smile on many grandmothers’ faces Saturday.

The organization gave away 100 turkeys to 100 grandmothers.  The idea came about during their last meeting in November.  In addition to the turkey, they also provided the grandmothers with a bag of groceries.

President of the 100 Black Men, Sanford Hillsman, says grandmothers mean so much to every family.

“Grandmothers are the back bone of the community.  Most grandmothers are not only raising their own kids, their grand kids, their great grand kids, so grandmothers are the strength and we wanted to recognize grandmothers for being who they are,” said Hillsman.
