Walton County deputy finds pot plants worth $7.4M
(AP) -- A Walton County sheriff's deputy has stumbled upon a sophisticated, multimillion-dollar drug operation in a Monroe home.
Officials tell WSB-TV in a Thursday story that the deputy went to see why the front door of the house was wide open and suspected it was a possible burglary. He called for backup after noticing an overwhelming smell of marijuana when he went to the door. Deputies said they found about 800 marijuana plants worth $7.4 million growing in the basement. The house was being rented by 28-year-old Quang Hung Le.
He was arrested and remains in Walton County jail.
