Officers searched the area, but could not find the suspect
(AP) -- Clayton County police are searching for a burglar who broke into a couple's home, tied them up and beat them.
Officer Kevin Hughes said the couple was asleep inside their Ellenwood home when they woke up and saw a man wearing all black and a ski mask. He was holding a gun. The intruder tied the couple up and beat both of them. Hughes said the wife was attacked more viciously.
The burglar then ransacked the home, taking $400 in cash and items valued at a total of $1,500.
The couple called police when the burglar fled. Officers searched the area, but could not find the suspect.
The woman was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
