The Guard unit plans to begin its march at the armory in Toccoa and arrive two days later at Oglethorpe University

(AP) -- The Georgia Army National Guard says members of the 108th Cavalry will begin a march from Toccoa to Atlanta early Wednesday to commemorate a trek made during World War II.

In 1942, members of the Army's 101st Airborne Division made a 118-mile march from Toccoa to Atlanta before heading to Columbus to begin parachute training.

The Guard unit plans to begin its march at the armory in Toccoa and arrive two days later at Oglethorpe University. Members of the unit will take part in the Atlanta Veterans Day parade scheduled for Saturday.
