U.S. Coast Guard search for 68-year-old Charles Collins

(AP) -- The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a native of Georgia who was reported missing as he sailed from Puerto Rico to Florida.

A Coast Guard statement says a family member of 68-year-old Charles Collins alerted authorities over the weekend.

The Georgia native has been living aboard the 34-foot Egide for three years.

His family says he planned to leave Puerto Rico on Oct. 15, with possible stops in the Bahamas on his way to Florida.

The Coast Guard said Monday it has been looking for signs of Collins at ports in Puerto Rico and Florida.

It asked boaters to be on the lookout for his white sailboat with a green stripe.  The Guard did not know his hometown in Georgia.
