The Marine Corps Logistics Base demolished one of its old barracks to make room for newer environmentally friendly barracks
Colonel Terry Williams kicked off the demolition of an old housing unit today by taking the reins and destroying a staircase on the side of the building.
The Marine Corps will replace the building with a new housing unit that is environmentally friendly with 3 stories and approximately 100 rooms.
Colonel Williams says the new construction demonstrates their commitment to marines. “This is fantastic for morale because it’s new and everyone likes something new, but it shows the marines that we care about them and their families” says Williams.
The MCLB will host a ground breaking later this week for the new barracks which have a projected finish date of late 2010, early 2011.
