New neighborhood gangs are spray painting their logo's all over Albany
The Gang Task Force says new graffiti tags signal seven new gangs are in Albany.
Abandoned houses, empty store buildings, and neighborhoods that have had gang problems in the past are seeing new gang graffiti tags marking territory.
Gang Unit representatives say the newest gang members range in age from 9 to 18 years old. Police say gangs are recruiting middle school students because they won’t serve as much jail time as older members for committing crimes.
Police are asking all residents to call the Gang Task Force if they see any new graffiti so police can be aware of any changes in Albany’s gang problem.
