A former Troup County teacher has been sentenced to five years in prison and 15 years of probation after pleading guilty to molesting a 13-year-old student.

The LaGrange Daily News reports Tuesday that Elizabeth Gaddy of Hogansville pleaded guilty to one count of child molestation for having oral sex with the student.  Charges of aggravated child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes were dismissed Monday.  The 46-year-old had the student in a social studies class she taught at Callaway Middle School during the 2007-2008 school year.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Monique Kirby said Gaddy sent the boy 5,761 text messages from May to July 2008 and had many lengthy phone calls with him at night while her husband was at work.  Kirby said Gaddy would get students out of class to deliver letters to the boy.
