Jerome Upshaw was sentenced to life plus 30 years in prison
(AP) -- A jury in Columbus has convicted a 33-year-old man of murder and other charges in the killing of a man whose vehicle was carjacked at a gas station two years ago.
The jury convicted Jerome Upshaw on Tuesday in the killing of 27-year-old Anthony Jerome King. A judge then sentenced Upshaw to life plus 30 years in prison.
Prosecutor Wayne Jernigan says Upshaw got out of his car and jumped into the passenger seat of the vehicle and later forced King out while the vehicle was moving.
Jernighan says Upshaw was convicted after about two hours of deliberation of felony murder, theft by taking motor vehicle, hijacking a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
