Former President Jimmy Carter turns 85 on October 1
President Jimmy Carter turns 85 this week, and he began celebrating Sunday afternoon.
The Ryland Theater in Americus hosted a birthday celebration in Carter’s honor with performances from a high school chorus that flew in from California and Las Vegas performer and famed pianist David Osborne. Carter says his wife’s love is his secret to living a long life. Carter and his wife Rosalynn have been married for 63 years.
The 39th president of the United States and guests held a cake reception after the show.
