Driver not facing criminal charges

A man who was hit by a truck in Lee County Thursday night has died.

Georgia State Patrol told FOX 31 News that around 8 p.m., 28-year-old Shawn Leonard Lemke darted out in front of Homerun Foods onto Highway 19 and was struck by a GMC Sierra pickup truck.  The driver, 45-year-old George Michael Rodefer, an Albany businessman who owns Mugsy’s restaurant was driving southbound when Lemke walked in front of his truck. 

Lee County EMS took Lemke to Palmyra Hospital where he later died.  Rodefer will not face criminal charges.
