A man’s body was found Wednesday afternoon by two fishermen on the Flint River
Police say they retrieved the body about a mile south of the Old Radium Springs Golf Course and there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the victim.
The Flint River wasn’t peaceful Wednesday afternoon when two fishermen reported seeing a floating body in the water around 4:30 p.m. Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek says local residents shouldn’t be alarmed.
“No indication of any foul play, however we have a body that’s been in the water for some period of time” says Chief Cheek.
Right now the police are not releasing much information about the victim, but they have a few clues.
“There are indicators that this is a missing person that the city of Albany responded to a call on yesterday and we’re trying to determine just what the circumstances are” says Chief Cheek.
On September 16 Willie Haggins was reported missing since Friday September 11th. It’s not confirmed the body recovered from the river is Mr.. Haggins, but police hope to have that answer soon.
“We believe we know who the person is” says Chief Cheek.
Officials say the victim will undergo an autopsy tomorrow to determine the exact cause of death.
