Giants call up Leesburg star ball player

One of Leesburg’s most famous residents just became a little more renowned Wednesday.

Former Lee County High School baseball star, and current San Francisco Giant Buster Posey was called up to the big leagues and will be in Philadelphia for the game Wednesday night against the Phillies.

Posey had been playing for the triple-A affiliate in Fresno, but was promoted because of an injury to the Giants regular catcher.

Posey batted .326 in 80 games at single-A, .321 in 35 games at triple-A, and combined for 18 homeruns and 80 RBI’s.  He is not expected to start.
