11 of 22 players have H1N1
The high school football season is already underway but games are already being cancelled, and it’s not due to the weather.
Sherwood Christian Academy was set to embark on another successful season Friday night but they’ll have to wait until next week to kickoff 2009. 11 of 22 players on its opponent Lyman Ward Military Academy have contracted the H1N1 virus, also known as swine full.
SCA athletic director Alan McWilliams pulled the plug on the game citing health concerns as the reason for canceling the contest.
“Football is a game where sweat and breathing and just in the middle of the game, just a lot of contact there where it could be an issue. On one hand we really want to play and ever thing, but it may end up being a blessing in disguise,” said McWilliams.
